Data We Collect

MediaLab does not require an account and does not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or phone number. We do not require an account registration, login, or personal information to use the app.

We do collect limited, anonymous usage data through third-party services (see below) to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Your media files always remain on your device and are never uploaded.

Local Data Storage

The following data is stored locally on your device:

  • Recent files and processing history
  • Per-tool preferences (output format, quality, destination)
  • Theme preference (light, dark, or system)
  • App settings and defaults
  • Saved presets and watermarks

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. Deleting the app will remove all locally stored data.

On-Device Processing

All media processing — extracting audio, trimming, converting, resizing, watermarking, subtitle burning, and more — happens locally on your device using on-device media engines. Your source and output files are never uploaded to any server.

Third-Party Services

MediaLab uses the following third-party services to understand app usage, improve performance, and (in the future) display ads:

Analytics — Google Firebase

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data so we can understand how users interact with MediaLab and improve the app. Firebase Analytics may collect:

  • App opens, screen views, and tool selections
  • Feature usage (which tools are used, how often, in what order)
  • Session length and crash data (via Firebase Crashlytics)
  • Device model, OS version, locale, and country (derived from IP, not stored as a precise location)
  • Anonymous advertising identifiers (IDFA) — only after you grant tracking permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt

This data is collected on behalf of MediaLab by Google LLC and is governed by Google's privacy practices. You can review Google's policies at . You may opt out of analytics collection by disabling "Share Analytics" in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, or by enabling "Limit Ad Tracking" on your device.

Advertising — Future Support

MediaLab may display advertisements in future versions of the app. Ads will be served through a third-party ad network (such as Google AdMob or a similar provider). Ad networks may use device identifiers, coarse location (country/region level), and contextual information from this app to select and serve ads.

No personally identifiable information is shared with advertisers, and your media files are never used for ad targeting. You can opt out of personalized ads by enabling "Limit Ad Tracking" in your device settings.

If and when advertising is introduced in MediaLab, we will update this policy with the specific ad network(s) used and the exact data they collect before any ads are shown.

What We Do Not Use

  • No social media integrations or login services
  • No payment processors (the app is free)
  • No third-party SDKs that read your media files or processing results

Permissions

MediaLab requests only the permissions needed to function:

  • Photos library access — to pick source media files
  • Files app access — to read inputs and write outputs to chosen folders

You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. MediaLab will still work for any actions that don't require the revoked permission.

Children's Privacy

MediaLab is safe for users of all ages:

  • No personal information is required to use the app
  • There are no advertisements or external links
  • No data is collected from any user, including children

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
