Privacy Policy

Introduction

Convey ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected when you use our application, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Convey you agree to the practices described here.

What Stays on Your Device

Convey is a local media converter. The files you choose to convert, your conversion settings, and the output files are processed entirely on your device. We do not upload your files to any server, and we do not have access to their contents at any point.

Data We Collect

We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, contact list, photos, audio, location, or contacts. However, because Convey is free and supported by advertising, a small amount of non-identifying information is collected automatically through the third-party services listed below. The categories of data processed are:

  • Identifiers — Device ID: a device-level identifier generated by your operating system (such as the Identifier for Vendor, IFV) is used to deliver ads, count impressions, and prevent fraud. We do not access the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), and we do not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
  • Usage Data: aggregate, de-identified information about how the app is used (for example, screen views, button taps, and feature usage), used to improve the product and measure ad performance.
  • Diagnostics: crash logs and performance data (such as app launch time and error traces) used to identify and fix bugs.
  • Purchases: if you buy the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase, Apple's App Store processes the transaction and securely shares the purchase receipt with us so we can restore your "Remove Ads" entitlement across devices. We do not see your payment card details.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Convey displays banner and interstitial ads through Google AdMob. AdMob is a Google Ireland Limited service. AdMob may receive:

  • Device-level identifiers (IDFV, IP address, device model, OS version, language, screen size).
  • Ad interaction events (whether an ad loaded, was shown, or was tapped).
  • Coarse, non-precise location derived from your IP address (not GPS).

Convey requests non-personalized ads from AdMob. We do not enable interest-based or cross-app audience targeting. AdMob still uses the data above for basic functions such as frequency capping, fraud prevention, and contextual ad selection. We do not combine this data with anything we collect server-side, because we do not operate servers that receive your data.

To learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services, review the Google Partner Sites policy and Google's Privacy Policy.

You can disable ads entirely by purchasing the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase at any time from Settings → Ads.

Analytics (Firebase Analytics)

Convey uses Firebase Analytics (Google Ireland Limited) to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Firebase Analytics collects:

  • App opens, screen views, and a small number of in-app actions (such as starting or completing a media conversion, opening Settings, or changing a preference).
  • Country and language derived from your device settings (not precise location).
  • Device model, OS version, and app version.

Firebase Analytics does not collect any of your converted files or media. You may opt out of sharing analytics data with Google at any time by disabling "Share Analytics" in iOS Settings → Privacy → Analytics → Analytics Data. For more details, see Firebase Privacy & Security.

In-App Purchases

Convey offers a single one-time in-app purchase ("Remove Ads"). Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect your name, payment details, or billing address. Apple shares with us a non-personally-identifying product identifier and a confirmation of the purchase so we can unlock the feature and restore it across devices signed into the same Apple ID.

Do Not Track / Tracking Choice

Convey does not access the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt. We do not sell user data, and we do not perform cross-app tracking as defined under Apple's App Tracking Transparency policy. Accordingly, in App Store Connect we declare that Convey does not track users.

Children's Privacy

Convey is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because ads are configured as non-personalized and the app does not track users, the underlying frameworks comply with applicable restrictions on child-directed advertising. If you believe a child has provided us with information through the App Store purchase flow, please contact us and we will promptly address it.

Data Retention

Analytics events are retained by Google for up to 14 months, after which they are anonymized or deleted per Google's default Firebase retention policy. AdMob servers retain advertising data as required to bill advertisers and prevent fraud, typically on the order of months. We do not retain any data on our own infrastructure, since we do not operate a backend.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, the EEA, the United Kingdom, California, or other regions with applicable privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit the processing of your data, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because Convey does not host your personal data on our servers, please direct any data-subject requests to the relevant third-party processors:

For anything else, contact us at the address below and we will help you route the request.

International Data Transfers

The data described above is processed by Google and Apple in their global infrastructure, which may include countries outside your own. Those providers operate under their own privacy frameworks (such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses). Convey itself does not transfer any of your data internationally, because we do not receive it in the first place.

Security

We rely on the security practices of our third-party providers (Google and Apple) to protect any data that flows through their systems. Your files never leave your device, so they are not exposed to network-based risks on our side.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app or to applicable law. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
